They have blue roses nowadays =)

So anyway it's almost 11 pm here, and I'm probably signing off soon, and hence:

Happy Chinese New Year!

and

Happy Valentines Day!

Personally, I think V-Day is overratedcommercialized AND a total waste of time and money

Did I mention I think it's overrated? =)

And no, i'm not bitter that I'm single.

I'm single because I want to be single.

Still,

I agree with my friend Rachel that love should be shown EVERYDAY

BUT

it IS a good day to shower that extra bit of love and attention on your loved ones (Valentine's Day is NOT JUST FOR LOVEY-DOVEY couples!)

just don't waste a million dollars on those overpriced roses, chocolates, teddy bears, camels, whales...

you get the point.

express your love in a letter

or just be NICER to your loved ones (it's the cheapest, most economical AND thoughtful thing you can do!)

then again, Australia is famous for its delicious creamy chocolates right?

There's no rule saying I can't buy chocolates for MYSELF  =)

So anyway here's what I think would be way more meaningful than roses that last only a week:

1. For that special someone(s) --- As mentioned, write a beautiful, heartfelt letter of gratitude (be sure to check it for spelling errors!)

2. For your dad(s) --- Wash his car(s), but make sure you don't ruin his custom faded leather seats!

3. For your mum(s) --- Clean your room. Yes, that means clearing enough junk off the floor that she'll actually be able to SEE it (the floor).

If however you happen to be a neat-freak (no offence intended with the word "freak" of course) with OCD like some people I could mention (but won't, since it's CNY and it's "bad karma" haha) then... cook your mother a meal. It would of course be better received if it's not BURNT  =)

4. For your sister(s) --- Unless your sister is like mine, a simple hug and "I love you" will probably suffice. If she IS like mine however, a 20 minute massage, along with a pair of earrings would probably be the way to go =)  If you're unable to do all the above, then... just stay out of her way and give her some peace and quiet =)

5. For your brother(s) --- These are the best, they don't ask for ANYTHING =)  Just give them an extra hard squish (squish = hug). This only applies if they're still (like mine) in the cute, cuddly stage. If their voices have broken and you have to look up to them, DO NOT hug them. Especially not in front of their friends.

6. Anyone else --- Just leave a friendly note on their Facebook wall  =)

Now, i'm extremely unhappy I'll be missing out on all the CNY festivities, food and fun this year (fun = angpows = money = shopping = yay), but i've resigned myself to this.

And besides, my cousin and I will be attempting to have a steamboat! And we'll even make dessert! (recipe taken from a Kid's Cookbook, but that's totally besides the point)

If we don't burn the house down (technically that would be impossible, seeing we're using a rice pot, but YOU NEVER KNOW), pictures will be up documenting our triumph =)

Oh, btw I used to think blue roses were only possible in shows like Sailor Moon (why yes, I am a Sailor Moon fan haha), but not so!

Behold the miracle of science!

Haha... this isn't an actual blue rose. If you're interested though, click here

cheers! =)

  1. Regarding ur Valentine thoughts, yeah, it IS true. You don't wait 4 this day to show love :D

But then again, chocolates HAVE the reputation of being fattening BUT for chocaholics (me included) who cares? XD

Actually, yeah, if you don't check the cable and wiring, ur gonna set it on fire. be ready with a fire extinguisher!!!

Sheesh. Blue roses. The next thing tey'll come up with is a raimbow-coloured one or a black one.
