My mother just oh-so-kindly let me know that i am in for a BIG culture shock when I go to Adelaide
and
I kinda wish she HADN'T told me, coz now i'm dreading going! =(
See
Adelaide's near the dessert or something like that
so they have water shortages etc etc
and hence
they try whenever possible to conserve water AND electricity
and i'm totally supportive of that, and ALL for it!
Really!
Save the environment and all that... stuff. Whoo!
BUT THEN
my cousin told her mother who told MY mother who then told me
that
YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO HAVE 5 MINUTE BATHS.
every
single
day.
I am going to DIE.
I love water! I really do.
That's why I take 30 minute showers, so I can have heart-to-heart, I-love-you-so-much-muah-muah bonding time with the water in my bathroom.
Now you're saying I have to cut my bonding time with water down to a paltry 5 minutes?
='(
I have no idea how they enforce it.
I mean, they won't arrest me if I overshoot and use the water for... say, 5 minutes and 50 seconds right?
or even... 30 minutes? *hopeful face*
My mother wants me to start practicing at home. Like those Olympic runners you know?
*
Coach Mum: *hammering on the bathroom door* Come on yoong, YOU CAN DO IT! Shave off 20 seconds from your time. Come on! Go go go go GO!
Me: .... are you TIMING me?
*
So that's Horrible Thing #1.
HT#2 is that they restrict your internet time too!
Apparently lah.
Like, internet there is expensive, not like here in Malaysia. So i might not be able to feed my Facebook crave as much as i'd like! Oh, and keep in touch with family and friends too haha.*
*That's totally on the top of my list of Internet Priorities =)*
So yeah. I don't know how i'm supposed to survive the homesickness without the Internet.
No Skype?
No facebook?
No email?
Haiyo. See, this is what happens when you go to a foreign country.
Oh and another thing. Apparently if you're watching TV there, ALL THE OTHER LIGHTS in your house MUST be switched off.
And you know what? I LIKE that. Coz it means every time my cousin switches on her TV, well, i'm OBLIGATED to switch off my lights (enough studying) and go teman her right? =)
=D
Just goes to show, there's always a silver lining, if you look hard enough =)
