"Here is a small fact - you are all going to die" - The Book Thief

I had a long, long phone chat with Mariel (you are one of my favourite people too! =D ) on Saturday night after coming back from (stupid) dress shopping at Sunway. I really, REALLY enjoyed catching up with her and being updated on what's going on in her life!

I mean, this is the girl I took showers with. When we were like 3 and 4. That kind of bond is hard to break, you know?

On a side note, sometimes I wish I could go back to the days where showering with other people was no big deal.

Not because I'm a pervert or anything (NO NO NO NO), but because it just shows how innocent we all used to be!

Before the world corrupted us, that is.

Again, I am blaming "The World" because I don't want to blame myself.

Anyway, we talked about stuff that - while not exactly private, isn't the type of thing i'd write on my blog without her permission.

Still, suffice it to say that I was very challenged in my Christian walk with God, and was very inspired by her (cough cough PRIDE mariel, PRIDE. don't let it get to you! =D) .

It's nice being able to talk about Christian stuff with her, because I can't really do that with my non-Christian friends. Sometimes they just don't understand.

Oh and let me digress a bit here (because of my tendency to think of a million and one things at the same time) by saying how *I* don't understand how some people can be Atheists.

I mean, sure they're entitled to their own beliefs (or in this case, NON-belief) and I respect that, but SERIOUSLY?

Look around you. How can there NOT be a God? Or a Higher Power or Greater Authority or whatever you want to call it?

I think what we humans lack is Faith. Instead, we always want Proof. If someone tells you something that sounds outrageous, you say "Prove it" or "Show me". Never "Okay", unless you're not really listening to that person.

If someone shouts, "There's a blue flying cow outside!" you'll probably LOOK to MAKE SURE right? Because we all KNOW that cow's are BLACK AND WHITE. And don't fly. Duh. So blue flying cows can't exist.

Or can they?

In the Bible it says that it's easier for kids to go to heaven than adults, because they have more Faith. And this is so true!

I mean, kids are the most gullible creatures in the world. You feed them crap about Santa Claus and get their hopes up that a bearded fat man is going to squeeze himself down their house chimney and give them presents for FREE, and they BELIEVE it.

I mean, come on. Be serious. We have practically NO CHIMNEYS in Malaysia.

Psshhh.

Kids also believe in stuff like mermaids (confession: i've always wanted them to be real!) and princesses having happily-ever-afters (Blame DISNEY!). I mean, you tell them something and they'll take your word for it.

They have FAITH in what you say.

Okay in some, if not most cases this is BAD. Why else do you think kidnappers are so successful in kidnapping kids?

But I think as we grow up, we go to the other extreme. We become too cynical. We start disbelieving EVERYTHING until it is proven. We want cold hard facts. No more fairy dust and wishing on falling stars, thank you very much.

Especially after we find out that falling stars are actually burning chuncks of fiery comets that are ugly and have holes in them. Curse you, Science! Haha...

Sometimes, I think we all need to find back our inner child. We need to start getting EXCITED about simple things in life. Like Sugus sweets. And vitagen. And cotton candy. And SmartTags! which are SO COOL btw. but more on this next time.

Questions:

When was the last time you just watched the clouds in the sky and imagined shapes?

When was the last time you jumped on your bed and pretended to fly?

When was the last time you played "masak-masak" with plastic food and pretended you were cooking up a gourmet storm?

When was the last time you sat with your family and just laughed and talked?

The movie, "2012" is coming out soon. It says (and apparently it's true) that scientists believe a meteor is on course to crash into Earth in the Year 2012.

Apparently we will all die.

So, LIVE A LITTLE. And have fun, because we all deserve it =)
